Leadership Development & Conscious Parenting — from the inside out
The Story Behind The Leadership of Seeing™
It was around 2014. I was leading teams at Stora Enso — deep in the corporate world, managing people, navigating organisational complexity, under real pressure.

I picked up The Conscious Parent by Dr. Shefali Tsabary as a parent. My oldest daughter was approaching her teenage years and we had started clashing. I wanted to understand what was happening between us, and how to show up better for her.

I held my forehead in my hands as I read.

Not because the book was difficult. Because it was precise. It named, with complete accuracy, patterns of behaviour I had never once questioned — patterns I had carried into my parenting, and into my leadership, without ever examining where they came from or what they were doing to the people around me.

For two weeks I walked through my daily life stunned. Doing my tasks. But processing something that had shaken me to the core.

I started applying the principles at home. And then I noticed something that stopped me.
This is not just about the parent-child relationship. It is about any relationship in which one person holds authority over another.

So I started applying them at work too. Responding from presence rather than from a triggered state. Staying curious instead of reactive. Holding people in a different kind of regard.
The results were not subtle.

What I discovered — and what has shaped everything I have built since — is this:
The principles that create a conscious, connected parent are the same principles that create an extraordinary leader. Not similar. The same.

The reactive parent who tightens control because they are afraid loses the child's trust. The reactive leader who tightens control because they are afraid loses the team's intelligence. The mechanism is identical. The cost is identical. And the path through it is identical.
This is not a metaphor. It is a description of how human beings respond to authority — at any age, in any context.

I spent the next ten years living this — at home with my children, and at work with my teams. It required sustained practice. Many mistakes. A great deal of personal inner work that had nothing to do with strategy or skills frameworks, and everything to do with learning to see myself honestly, including under pressure.

But as I grew from the inside, something changed in how I led. The gap between my intentions and my impact began to close.

It wasn't until I trained formally — completing my work at IMD Lausanne, graduating from Dr. Shefali's Institute, and bringing 15 years of leading people to both — that I had the full picture. The depth, the rigour, and the clarity to understand what I had actually been building across those ten years. The Leadership of Seeing™ is that understanding, codified.

It is an 8-week programme for senior leaders who are already effective — and who sense that something in how they lead is not yet complete.

If that resonates, the next step is a conversation.
